FAQ

SRT or SubRip File Format, is the most popular subtitle file formats for video content whuch is vastly supported by majority of video players.
It is a plain text file which containd subtitle texts, starting and ending time codes and their sequences.

srt tools gets your SRT file and time shifts it's content according to offset time you set. For example if subtitle is 2 seconds and 300 milliseconds ahead of the video you need to upload .srt file and set time offset to +2.30 and click Start. srt tools will add 2 seconds and 300 milliseconds to each subtitle start and end time entry to match sub with video.

1. When time shift between subs and scenes are not consistant all through the video
This may happen when video is ripped from TV and adds have been removed but subs are made using original video, or vice versa. In this case it is probable that offset time vary in different partsof video.
2. When offset value exceeds allowable start and end of video file.
3. Your prefered video player does not support SRT files.

Some players, such as VLC Media Player, let you choose subtitle file to play. Those players which support subtitles but do not let you choose the file usually follow a simple rule: use the same name for both video and subtitle files and put them together in a folder.
For example, if your video file name is mymovie.mkv, change it's subtitle file name to mymovie.srt and copy them together side by side.
